I’ve got news for you folks – we are ALL doing it wrong. That’s right – you heard me. I’m doing it wrong, gurus are doing it wrong, we all get it wrong. So what?

But we keep doing it. And sometimes we get it right. If you get enough things right, at the end of the game you get a little medal that said “I got it right” (no you don’t actually get a medal but that would be nice – hopefully what you get is a little pile of money which is even better than a medal).

Don’t let the fear of getting it wrong stop you. Let yourself make some mistakes. Just keep going, keep doing things, learn and move forward. You can do this, I know you can. You are a smart cookie. Don’t let anyone tell you anything different, not that guru or that nasty little voice in your head.

You just tell that voice in your head to shut up if it’s telling you are doing it wrong. Grandma says so.

Watch the video because I’ve got some good advice in there too.

LinkedIn Events are totally underutilized (that’s a nice $2 word for ya). In the Social Media world, LinkedIn does not get the love it deserves and LinkedIn Events are no exception. If you run events, you want to start using this tool.

Now, it’s most effective if you build up your LinkedIn connections so that you can invite your connections to your event. But your event can also be found by new people that you may not be connected to. Creating an event only takes a moment, you can browse to see what other events are happening in your area, and your event will show up there also.

Events can run a little viral because other people will see that a LinkedIn connection is attending your event when they RSVP. We’re all about viral, baby. So I highly encourage you to use LinkedIn Events.

On Wednesday I went to the 1-year Anniversary celebration of Conscious360’s Networking group. This group was started by Cory Michelle Johnson as a way to bring Socially Conscious, Eco-friendly, and Spiritually Aware business owners together to network. It was fantastic! There were over 100 people there which is a fairly typical crowd for those events. So how did Cory do it? How did she grow this event so quickly? She used Social Media. Find out more in our interview.

She’s been using Facebook Events, Fan Pages as well as her own Facebook User account to grow the Denver networking group. They are expanding into Boulder and are looking to add Conscious360 events in other parts of the country. She has a big vision and is using Social Media to grow it. Take a look at their Fan Page here Facebook Conscious360. Make sure you follow Cory on Twitter: http://twitter.com/corymichelle

Hi Meeting Professionals, Grandma Mary here. Good to meet ya. Hope you have a fantastic time in Cancun at the Meet Different event! I wish I could be there but travel upsets my system. So Glenn Thayer and I made this Twitter training for you. We are going to show you how to get signed up for Twitter, how to participate in the conversation for the event, and show you some handy tools that will help.

To review, here are the steps you need to take:

Sign up for Twitter at www.Twitter.com

Fill out your bio and upload your picture.

You can participate in the conversation by including the hashtag #MD10 or #MPI anywhere in your tweet.

To make things easier, go to www.TweetChat.com, log in with your twitter name and put one of the hashtags in to break out the conversation. TweetChat will automatically enter the hashtag into your tweet.

For more Twitter tools, tips and tutorials check out my Twitter Tutorial page at www.grandmamaryshow.com/twitter-tutorials and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter! www.Twitter.com/GrandmaMaryShow

That’s right, I’m packing it up. Don’t worry, I’m not really going anywhere. But my 30 Days to Social Media Mastery Program is. It’s been a good run but it’s time to close the doors and focus on other projects coming out later this year.

This is fantastic training, if I do say so myself, with a daily 10-15 minute video tutorial on blogging, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, forums, JV’s and more. Plus you get a downloadable pdf and a homework assignment to keep you on track. It’s all self-paced and will be accessible indefinitely. Find out more here http://www.30DaystoSocialMediaMastery.com

The doors close on Friday February 12th at noon MT. And I have a great bonus for you – the first five people in this week get a free 45-minute one-on-one coaching session to work specifically on how to use Social Media to grow your business. Let me know if you have any questions! GrandmaMary@GrandmaMaryShow.com.

If you don’t know the Fabulous Sandy Grason then you don’t know what Mojo you are missing! She is fantastic! But more importantly she is using Social Media right. She views Twitter as a big cocktail party, not a place to sell sell sell. That’s not what it’s for, people! She also calls her teleseminars a “virtual” cocktail party too, which is why I love her She will be releasing her Fabulous Formula 2.0 (even more fabulousness) very shortly so stay tuned for that!

Let’s see what she’s doing right with Social Media:

Twitter: Connecting with people. Sandy has a very large e-mail list of people who have opted in to get her Hot Mojo lifestyle tips. Twitter is where she says hello, finds out how people are doing, and retweets things that are important to them. She’s a giver. Sure, she tweets out links to her blog posts but it’s so much more than that.

Video: Take one look at her blog and you will see that almost every entry has some video in there. You feel like you know her after reading a couple posts. She blings her video up with fancy music and lovely editing but you don’t have to start there. Windows Movie Maker is free and is most likely already on your computer. It is not hard to edit videos and put them up on YouTube. Then you can embed them into your posts.

She also continues to build her e-mail list with great free content. Not exactly Social Media but e-mail isn’t dead, contrary to popular belief. Offer some good free content and build your e-mail list.

Make sure you check out her site at www.SandyGrason.com and watch our interview – because we had fun!

I sat down with Michelle Cross who has had great success creating Facebook Events for The Journey. The Journey offers a number of products and workshops based on the work of Brandon Bays. The work is a mind-body healing technique working at the cellular level.

Michelle recently had an impromptu workshop and only had 2 weeks to prepare. They didn’t have time for the press releases and advertisements that they normally do. So what did Michelle do to get over 80 people to the event? She used Facebook. It’s a powerful tool, people. Let’s examine what Michelle did right.

1. She created a Facebook Group: The Journey – Official USA Group and it’s currently at 366 members.

2. She created an Event and invited all the members to the event.

3. She encouraged people to share the event with others and even sent special e-mails to personally ask people to invite everyone they could through Facebook.

4. She also sent the invitation to the e-mail list but most people RSVP’d through Facebook.

It’s also worth noting that they didn’t use Twitter – they don’t even have a Twitter account. You don’t have to tweet if you don’t want to! I keep telling you that. Check out the video for more on how Facebook Events has helped The Journey.
